Gopa our mum battled bravely against breast cancer and sadly passed away on 5th May 2020.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and in spite of doctor’s giving her a couple of years, she fought it bravely for 9 years. Her consultant had to change his belief about the prognosis of her condition, and so did we.

She inspired so many people with her ever positive spirit, even when she knew the end was in sight. Independence and self reliance were her mantra. She had always been an advocate for education of underprivileged children. Teaching came naturally to her. Although she taught undergraduate students as a professional, she tutored many school kids for free especially the ones from disadvantaged backgrounds as she wanted them to have equal opportunities in life. Her students remember her as a kind and gentle teacher who had a sense of humour and always had their best interest at heart.

By setting up Gopa Foundation we want to honour her memory and keep her spirit alive, by providing help to children who due to their circumstances have not been able to access education, regardless of their religion, caste, colour or social status.

This was something Gopa always wanted to do, we are only realising her dream.

Tribute by Daughter

Life after mom is very hard, as if someone has taken away my lifeguard. Things are moving on as on a rail, as if everything in my life has become stale.

Mom is the one who is always your guard, whether the times are easy or hard. She hugs you when you shout, only a mother can do that, no doubt.

Life with her was blooming , which has suddenly became dull and gloomy.

Dying to listen to her voice, but can’t help I have no choice.

In all the hard times, you were a barrier, you were a warrior.

Your love, affection, smile and caring nature, is the only inspiration for us to live in the future.

You will be missed but will always be alive in our hearts, as you were God’s best piece of art.

Mom is the best, she’s the heart of parent’s nest. She brings up her children with great effort and care, it makes this relationship very rare.

We miss her every now and then, and pray that she is blessed in heaven.

Missing you in life’s every talk, finding so difficult without you to walk .

Life would never be the same ever, as nothing can take place of a loving mother

Love you Ma, Miss you Ma
